This workshop, held in a computer lab, will give you the opportunity to actually create, update and explore the many facets and tools found on LinkedIn. It is suggested that you visit LinkedIn.com prior to the workshop and create an account. Space is limited to the first 20 students who register. Thursday, 10/9/14 3:30 pm - 4:30 pm Professionalism: Soft Skills Employers Want You to Have
Beyond your ability to meet standard criteria-the "right" major or work experience-employers are most likely to look for evidence that that you are able to work in a team, have leadership abilities and have written communication skills. This workshop will help you learn how you can develop these skills while you are at UB. You'll also learn how you can demonstrate these skills on your resume, cover letter and in job interviews. This workshop will be facilitated by a UB Career Services representative and a human resources professional from a local company.

Research has shown that people who have the opportunity to focus on their strengths everyday are six times as likely to be engaged in their jobs and more than three times as likely to report having an excellent quality of life in general. Future employers and graduate/professional school recruiters will ask you: "What are your strengths?" How will you answer this question? This workshop will show you how you can identify your strengths and apply your talents in your classes, your leadership activities and your career development. If you are interested in taking the on-line StrengthsQuest assessment prior to this workshop, stop by Career Services at 259 Capen Hall to speak with a Career Counselor or call 645-2231 to schedule an appointment.
